“Love your neighbor as yourself” we are commanded. Let us set aside this day to offer our skills and talents, smiles and joy to serve our neighbors together.

Help with light carpentry, repairs and sprucing up around the house.

BAKING WITH LOVE
Kids will decorate a variety of cookies and pretzels to be delivered locally to families and organizations. A few adults are needed to assist.
Time: 9:00am to 2:00pm (later arrivals will deliver cookies)
People 8-10 kids, age 4 and up, 2-3 adults

BIKES FOR HUMANITY – BOSTON
Help collect bikes, or donate a bike. Help may be needed to pick up bikes before Day of Service. Bikes for Humanity–Boston is one of 50 chapters around the US. B4BH has a goal to send 450 bikes to Africa in 2018.

Work at Retelle Reservation with members of the Commission, clearing a grove of apple trees.

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
Continue work on a home in Lawrence.
Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm
People: 10 participants, ages 18 and older

Team 1: 8 volunteers will go to Lazarus House Shelter – vacuuming, cleaning, making beds, baking (brownies, whatever and a dinner that can be kept in the refrigerator to be served some other night, such as meatloaf, or lasagna).
Team 2: 6 volunteers will go to the Thrift Store / Soup Kitchen (2 blocks from Lazarus House) for odd jobs such as cleaning the dining area, organizing, sorting clothes, cleaning the parking lot. Could serve lunch but that is 11:30 – 1pm.

LEAF RAKING AND FALL CLEAN-UP
Join a team of rakers for a morning or afternoon of yard clean-up for church members who need help. Bring rakes, blowers, gloves or tarps if you have them.
Time: 9:00am to 4:00pm, flexible hours
People: 50 (families, teens, adults)
Location: around local area

CONFIRMANDS: will have own raking team
NEIGHBORS IN NEED
Remove non-food items, sweep, wash the floor, thoroughly clean counters, organize food & sort whatever food is there.

POWER OF FLOWERS
Arrange flowers for delivery to recipient facilities serving the ill, the elderly, veterans, and others in need of a lift.

People: limited to 4 volunteers

Final garden harvest and clean up. Plant cover crops. Build a fence.

CRAFT / CARD MAKING
All ages are welcome to make Christmas cards for Operation Gratitude, Thanksgiving cards for service personnel listed in our weekly bulletin and/or cards to accompany the decorated cookies. Supplies and paperwork provided as well as creative direction.

Middle and High School youth will assist at this therapeutic equestrian center striving to enrich lives through the healing power of horses. The work is to rake leaves. Younger children must be supervised by adults; no dogs allowed.

Pull Japanese knotweed outside of the urban farm, along the path of the Shawsheen River.

SINGING FOR SENIORS
Come sing with piano and guitar accompaniment for our friends at Wingate and Edgewood.
Time: Time: 9:00 to 11am practice
1:45pm – 4:00pm singing
